HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BEAUTIFUL GIRLS!

Yeah, I've been so into the Hong Kong movie thing that I forgot about their birthday until I got home and saw Sarah's email entitled, "its my birthday XD yay!" O.o I called them right away. Don't worry, I have something planned for when I see them next in Ottawa. Haunted walks, turtle shaped cakes, a ridiculous amount of birthday money if I can't think of anything else.

So Hong Kong movie posts tomorrow. Today (what's left of it, damn laptop crash) will be about the girls, with lots of pictures from that Saturday when they last here and I took them downtown. It was a lovely outing, and yes, the above picture is from that day while we were waiting for the Subway. That's possibly my favorite picture of them, and pretty much describes the day in a nutshell ^_^

The day started off with me taking the girls to a Crepe and Panini on Queen Street West. I took them there before and they absolutely loved it, especially the steamed milk. I think it's going to turn into a tradition with us.

There they are with their steamed milk (Sarah had hazelnut, Connie had Irish Cream) and their knitting. The waitress seemed enamored by the fact that we were all knitting ^_^

There's me on the other side of the table with my iced latte and my knitting. Sarah took that picture.

We had some delicious panini and crepes, in which I discovered that Connie doesn't like whipped cream. I KNOW! I was philosophical about it though: more for me.

Then we went to Lettuce Knit where, um, we bought yarn even though all three of us are supposed to be on a yarn diet. I dare a knitter to go to a yarn store and not buy yarn. The lady was super nice, and she even wound the yarn into balls for us. That was really nice. Sadly, I forgot to take pictures of the yarn. And of the Merrill Collection where we went next. And of Silver Snail where we went afterwards, which was the biggest shame because someone was working on a model TARDIS there and I should have gotten a picture of him with his model.

The TARDIS incident was fantastic. Connie and I saw him, squealed, and he gladly showed us the telephone that popped out, the lights that flickered on the top, the INSIDE THAT REALLY LOOKS LIKE THE INSIDE OF THE TARDIS!!! I gasped, told him to hold it while I looked for my other niece, and then dragged Sarah to see it. He went through the spiel again, but was delighted at how excited Sarah got over the phone and the light and the INSIDE THAT REALLY LOOKS LIKE THE INSIDE OF THE TARDIS.

Then he showed us the action figures of the Tenth Doctor and Martha that came with it, which was spiffy. I forget which niece asked about a Dalek model, but he replied there was one and Sarah asked if it would talk. "I don't think it'll say much except for Exterminate," he told her, in which Connie says, "Le-vi-tate" in that monotone Dalek voice. He looked at Connie like she was coolest thing ever and I'm thinking, yes, my niece is the coolest thing ever, and then he started laughing and talking about how funny that stair scene was. We had to leave soon afterwards and I thanked him warmly for showing us the TARDIS model and he thanked us for being delighted. That was really nice!

We went to Lush after that because I wanted to buy a bubble bar for a package I'm sending overseas. Sarah pretty much started knitting right from the beginning, and starts up a conversation with the people working there. They utterly impressed that she could knit and talk at the same time. "You're not even looking at your work!" they tell her. Then they start discussing soap and facial cleanser and that reminds me that I need to back and get a Tea Tree Facial Spray for Sarah. Man, my nieces are NOT SHY.

Lastly we went to Jack Astor, where after some musical tables, we got one that came complete with crayons and brown drawing paper. It was the BEST THING EVER. The three of us each grabbed crayons and filled up the entire table top.

Sarah's spot.

Close up of the wonky TARDIS and Ten she drew.

Connie's spot.

Close up of some character she drew.

and a close up of a bat that I thought was adorable.

Mine.

I love Jack Astor for putting crayons there. That was such a terrific idea.

After that, we walked around a bit. It was a beautiful night. Then it was time to go home.

Yeah. All the way home :)

I love my girls.
