I wanted to, and will, make an admittedly defensive point about the Teochew language. My mind is godsmacked at the news of the Greyhound stabbing. That's horrifying. My heart goes out to be the victim's family. I can't imagine what it must be like hearing the grisly details on the news.
Anyways, just wanted to share some youtube videos that I found. This is one of those Chinese operas I'm sure you all know about. In Teochew. Just because I feel like making a point that Teochew is a Chinese language. Nothing like getting Mainlanders telling me they never heard of Teochew to make me feel defensive. It's Chinese, I'm Chinese, note the Chinese words on the bottom. Incidently, the opera is about elopement of a Teochew woman to a Hokkien (also Chinese) man, which apparently the Teochew frowns on. I must ask my mother about that next time I see her.
And a Teochew clip on Teochew opera training because unlike the opera, I actually understand some of it.
